CARTIF, a partner in the ICARUS project, has presented the results of its research on the sustainable leaching of a lithium residual stream (LAR) at the XLVI Meeting of the Electrochemistry Specialised Group of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (GEE-RSEQ), held in Barcelona from 7 to 10 July 2026. The work was presented by Reyes Bermejo (CARTIF).

The work, entitled “Sustainable leaching of a lithium residual stream (LAR) and electrochemical identification of metals”, authored by M.R. Bermejo, P. Moretti, F. Verdugo, M. Gómez and D. Hidalgo (CARTIF, Circular Economy Area), explores the use of organic acids as leaching agents to recover metals from an aluminosilicate residue derived from lithium extraction. The results, validated through cyclic voltammetry, confirm this approach as a sustainable pathway aligned with the circular economy principles pursued by ICARUS.
