The Portuguese Architects’ Association (Ordem dos Arquitectos) has proposed the creation of a Special Career within Public Administration to recognise the technical, strategic, and social importance of architects in public-sector roles. This aligns with ICARUS’s mission to support sustainable urban planning and the development of circular, high-quality built environments.
The initiative aims to ensure fairer compensation and better recognition for professionals whose work impacts urban planning, building safety, heritage protection, and environmental quality. The proposal is set for consideration in the 2026 State Budget, marking an important step toward valuing architecture as a key pillar of sustainable development and public well-being.
